I’m sure that those who claim to love this numbingly boring book are like the observers who cheer loudest at the Emperor’s New Clothes. Too much jumping around. Just a moment while we sign you in to your Goodreads account. I’m waving my literary wand and sending Days of Boring Crap on a magic carpet ride directly into my “crap that actually got published” bin.
These same academics then make a sport of looking down their noses at readers who don’t like these books for the very same reasons. This contributed to the ambiguity. The plot has never really materialized, unless one counts the vague meanderings of this formless “war” that all the men are fighting He did this and that, and she did this and that, and they did this and that.
But at least the book singueatate me one thing! The author drew international acclaim for un veac de singuratate re, which ultimately sold tens of millions of copies worldwide.

It may have been great social commentary for the time and place of its writing, but today its drivel. However, I’ll say that the ending scene was strong and extremely disturbing. Gabriel Garcia Marquez, on the other hand, made an artless, hamfisted mess of his assignment.
